Biography
PAUL HALLER Roshi was born in Belfast in 1947. He has been engaged in Buddhist practice since 1973, initially as a Theravada monk in Thailand. He was ordained as a priest at the San Francisco Zen Center in 1980, where he became co-abbot in 2003. He has been led the outreach program at the Zen Center and has extensive experience with integrating Buddhist practice with hospice, jail and peace work. Since 1999 he has developed an increasing interest in encouraging Zen practice in his native Norhern Ireland. His work in Ireland is in conjunction with the Black Mountain Zen Centre (Belfast) where he is Director of Zen Practice.
